Young Professional Award

Announcement of the Young Professional Award

As part of its efforts to promote the sustainable future envisioned in the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the IAEA will specifically recognize and honour outstanding and excellent contributions of students (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees), postdoctoral fellows, and young professionals working in the field of radiation science and technology at the upcoming “Third International Conference on Applications of Radiation Science and Technology” to be held in Vienna, Austria from 7 to 11 April 2025. The IAEA especially encourages women to participate in the competition. Students and young generation professionals are invited to apply for the award and will be eligible for consideration if they have an accepted abstract on any of the conference topics for oral or poster presentation. A Young Professional Award Committee will determine outstanding papers based on the quality of the presentation and the submitted abstract.

Award

There will be 9 awards in all (3 for oral presentation and 6 for posters). Award winners will receive a certificate signed by the Scientific Secretary of Conference and the Director of the IAEA Division of Physical and Chemical Sciences.

Eligibility for award

Applicants must be students or early career professionals who are 35 years of age or younger at the time of the conference. They can be bachelor’s, Master’s, or doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, or young professionals working in field of radiation science and technology. Young professionals with abstracts accepted on any of the conference themes will be eligible for consideration. After participants receive an official acceptance of their abstracts, they will be asked to confirm if they are interested in taking part in this competition and that they fulfil the stipulated criteria.

Terms and Conditions

1. The award application is only open to participants attending the Third International Conference on Applications of Radiation Science and Technology (ICARST-2025) who will make an oral or poster presentation.

2. Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years of age at the time of the conference.

3. Only one entry is allowed per applicant.

4. All presentations must be an original work by the applicant.

5. Applicants must register by completing the online form ICARST-2025 Young Professional Award and submit an electronic version of their presentation not later than 7 March 2025.
