Description

Waiting for completion of the Laser MégaJoule (LMJ) in the Aquitaine region, the French community is currently performing preliminary IFE-related experimental studies on smaller-scale laser facilities, such as the one operated at LULI, LULI2000 (figure below left) and ELFIE, thus taking advantage of their versatility and of the unique combination on target of multiple laser beams, with durations ranging from a few nanoseconds to a few hundreds of femtoseconds. Among the experiments that were recently conducted, those aiming at understanding radiative properties of NLTE multicharged plasmas and at characterizing laser energy transport in fusion-relevant plasmas are crucial.
