Description

Centre for Energy Research and Training (CERT), Zaria, is one of the designated institutions saddled with responsibility of education and training in nuclear science and engineering to support Nigeria’s nuclear program. The Centre houses a research reactor, radioactive waste management facility as well as other radioactive sources that are designed and operated based on national and international regulations and safety standards. Being a university-based nuclear centre, knowledge management (KM) is one of the cardinal elements of the management policy. Since commissioning of Nigerian Research Reactor-1 (NIRR-1) that went critical on 3rd February, 2004, basic aspects of KM processes have been integrated into the Centre’s management system and strategic plan. This paper presents an overview of KM activities at CERT with focus on NIRR-1 facility.
