Description
As the development and demonstration of the Small Modular Reactor(SMR) continue to progress, along with the potential for multi-applications, many countries are actively considering the deployment of SMRs. However, the deployment of these reactors will face a series of challenges unique to each country's specific conditions, such as application demands, energy policy, market environment and regulatory conditions.
China, being the country with the largest scale of nuclear power construction in the world now, predominantly focuses on the construction of large reactors, even though it has demonstration SMR. In the context of the transition to clean energy, the potential application scenarios for SMRs in China and whether SMRs can develop in tandem with large reactors are a topic of considerable interest. By reviewing the current situation and combining it with China's national conditions, this paper analyzes the prospects and challenges of SMR application in China and offers suggestions for its development.
