The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) fosters the exchange of scientific and technical results in nuclear fusion research and development through its series of Technical Meetings and workshops.

The 10th IAEA Technical Meeting on the Steady State Operation of Magnetic Fusion Devices (SSO 2019) aims to provide a forum to discuss current issues covering a wide range of technical topics related to steady state operation issues including those expected in ITER operation regimes.

The SSO 2019 is being organized by the IAEA, in cooperation with the Government of China through the Institute of Plasma Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, in Hefei, China. Previous meetings in this series were held in Hefei, China (1998), Kyushu, Japan (1999), Arles, France and Greifswald, Germany (2002), Ahmedabad, India (2005), Daejeon, Republic of Korea (2007), Vienna, Austria (2010), Aix-en-Provence, France (2013), Nara, Japan (2015) and Vienna, Austria (2017).

The event will take place at the Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in the new EAST control room (350 Shushanhu Road, Hefei, China). Shuttles between the hotels and the event venue will be arranged accordingly. Detailed information on accommodation, transportation and other relevant matters will be available on the host organization’s dedicated website (http://meeting.ipp.ac.cn/IAEA-TMSSO2019) and provided to all designated participants approximately one month before the event.

Participants who require a visa to enter China should submit the necessary application as soon as possible to the nearest diplomatic or consular representative of China. A letter of invitation, if needed, can be requested from the host organization by emailing Ms Sha Wu (wusha@ipp.ac.cn).

  • 14 June 2019 Deadline for submission of Participation Form (Form A), Form for Submission of a Paper (Form B) and Grant Application Form (Form C) (if applicable) through the official channels

  • 28 June 2019 Notification of acceptance of abstracts and of assigned awards

  • 9 September 2019 Event begins

  • 11 September 2019 Event ends
