Description

As a forerunner of fusion power plant, the fusion devices are on the way, bringing challenges to the nuclear and radiation safety system and the demand on codes and standards. In this report, the development of an ISO standard for the radiation shielding design of a medical proton accelerator will be discussed. The related experience and lesson learned will be shared, including the specifications on the shielding design goals, the roles of stakeholders, the prioritization of Monte Carlo simulation in radiation shielding design and evaluation will be discussed. It could be referable for the developing a radiation protection codes and standards for fusion devices.
