Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register for this conference?

First, please complete this Registration Form. You will then need to complete and send off up to three forms to the "Competent National Authority" of the IAEA Member State in which you are based (i.e. the country in which your institute is situated, not necessarily that of your nationality). This Authority is usually the Permanent Mission to the IAEA (and perhaps other International Organizations in Vienna) and we can provide their details if necessary; usually it is fine to send the forms by email with a brief covering note. The forms are:

  • Form A: this form is to propose your participation in the event.
  • Form B: if you propose to give an oral or poster presentation.
  • Form C: to apply for financial assistance with travel and accommodation expenses.

Please note that in Forms A and B, "paper" refers to an oral or poster presentation at the conference. The meeting is in-person, so unless separately agreed, the answer to the question "I plan to attend virtually" is "No".

When we receive your nomination from the Competent National Authority we will send you a Letter of Invitation, which is required for participation in the meeting and which you may also require if you need a visa to enter Austria.

Should I send these forms to you as well?

Feel free to cc. ch.hill@iaea.org and c.monfero@iaea.org if you like; but please do not send to the official.mail@iaea.org address as well: the Permanent Mission will contact the IAEA if and when they nominate you and it is the Permanent Mission who will transmit your form to the official IAEA contact address.

When will I find out if I have been nominated?

The deadline for receipt of Forms A, B and C through official channels (i.e. from the Competent National Authority) is 24 February 2023, and you should be informed shortly after that date.

I would like to give a presentation. How do I do that?

Participants are encouraged to submit an abstract for an oral or poster presentation. Please complete the abstract submission form to propose a presentation for the meeting. A NUCLEUS account is required for this and you will be redirected to a page where you can create one. Please contact the organisers, ch.hill@iaea.org and c.monfero@iaea.org if you have problems with this.

When will I find out if my presentation has been selected as a contributed talk or a poster?

Participants will be informed of the final agenda for the meeting by 17 March 2023.

What should the dimensions of my poster be?

The poster boards are 120 cm wide x 150 cm high, suitable for an A0 poster in either portrait of landscape orientation.

When can I book my flights and accommodation?

Participants are advised to wait until they receive a Letter of Invitation from the IAEA before making travel arrangements.

How do I get to the conference venue? Where should I stay?

Practical information concerning travel, accommodation and the meeting venue is available here. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the local organisers, ch.hill@iaea.org and c.monfero@iaea.org.
