Description

Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials(NORM) use in industry is gaining prominence in Kenya. NORM is mainly generated mainly from the oil and the building and construction industry. Even though great efforts are made towards effective and efficient management of NORM, challenges still abound. The NORM management is not so pronounced in the country and as such, robust strategies are required to manage it earlier than later. Such include mapping, creating awareness to the workers in these industries and the public, effective regulation to address NORM in general and industry. These strategies if effectively put in place will ensure robust management of NORM in the country and prevent having enormous issues with NORM for future generations.
