Poster NORM Characterization, Measurement, Decontamination Session IV - Characterization in Industrial Facilities and in the Environment

Speaker

Mr ALFONSO ENRIQUE ESPINOZA LEYTON (INSTITUTO DE SALUD PÚBLICA DE CHILE)

Description

In Chile there is no regulation in matters related to occupational exposure to radon, however, multiple work activities are carried out in situations where attention is eventually required to radon levels, necessary to determine the need to apply some mitigation measure that allows an adequate level of protection of workers health, complying with a national regulation or, initially, with some international recommendation.
According to the previous problem, it has been proposed a pilot study that allows knowing some levels of radon in work environments, in underground mining or others, to determine the need to establish a national regulation, as well as the determination of a level of agreement to the reality of our country.
