Description

This phosphogypsum stack in Pascagoula,Mississippi produced diammonium phosphate form the 1950s thru 2014. They declared bankruptcy in 2015 and due to uncontrolled releases of wastewater decimating large portion of the Gulf fishing area, as well as low levels of Naturally Occurring Radiation Material, the site is now being addressed under US EPA Superfund program, and is one of the top ten priority sites in the US now. The unique remediation for this phosphogypsum stack can save both money and long term maintenance care, and thus has many potential applications to similar phosphogypsum sites in Spain, and around the world
