Description

LONG TERM OPERATION OF BOHUNICE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT L. Kupca, Slovenske elektrarne, a.s. Slovakia E-mail: ludovit.kupca@seas.sk The overall objective of plant long term operation (LTO) programme was to demonstrate that the relevant systems, structures and components (SSCs) would perform their safety functions throughout the entire LTO period. More recently a comprehensive robust plant programme was introduced: this programme is aimed at replacement or modification of those structures and components (SCs) which have not been replaced or modified during the plant first modernization programme and power uprates. Selection of SSCs for LTO was a very important process. It determined which plant SSCs were then included into scope for LTO assessment. Short lived SSCs were subject of the relevant plant programmes (maintenance, equipment qualification, etc.). Long lived SSCs were subject of ageing management programmes (AMPs) and time limited ageing analyses (TLAAs). Review of ageing management programmes (AMPs) which were developed for long lived structures and components important to safety was one of the core areas in the LTO licensing programme. Ageing management review consisted of:  Evaluation of SCs conditions;  Identification of ageing degradation;  Review of AMPs;  Demonstration of an adequate management of ageing degradation;  Reporting. The above listed elements were reviewed by the corresponding methodology using the adequately established criteria. The LTO programme evaluation phase has been completed in December 2013, when a brief summary report was sent to the licensing authority (UJD). In November 2014 the revised version of the final evaluation report with the incorporated UJD comments was finalized. Subsequently the LTO action plan of corrective measures implementation was submitted to the Authority. Currently, 175 integrated corrective measures (out of 204 in total number) have already been addressed and completed. The completed measures involve the new TLAAs, AMPs (for civil structures), other methodical guidance documents, and hardware modifications. Licensee informs the Authority about status of individual tasks performance in an annual summary report. The plant LTO programme is adjusted in accordance with requirements set out in the relevant legal regulations. Subject to fulfilment of tasks within given deadlines the Authority does not consider necessary to modify the valid operating license for the operation of Bohunice Unit 3 and 4.
